Privacy and removal

Recapped is built to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, no cookies, no advertising and no third-party trackers.

Visiting the site

• No cookies, no consent banner. Page views are counted on the server: the page path, the referring site's host name and a rough device class (desktop, mobile or bot). No IP address, cookie or full referrer URL is recorded.
• Hosting logs. The hosting platform (Microsoft Azure, EU region) keeps standard technical logs, which may include IP addresses, for up to 30 days for security and troubleshooting.
• Fonts are self-hosted. No requests go to font or analytics services.

Submitting a link

• What is stored: the URL, your optional note, product area and recap, and, only if you opt in to credit, the display name and profile link you give. No email address is collected.
• Spam protection: the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which Cloudflare processes under its own privacy policy. Rate limiting uses a salted, daily-rotating hash of your IP address, kept for at most 48 hours; the IP address itself is never stored.
• Moderation: pending submissions are kept in a private moderation inbox. Rejected and duplicate submissions are deleted after 30 days.
• Publishing: an approved link becomes part of this site's content repository, with its title, description, preview image and, if you opted in, your display name and profile link.

Removal

To remove a link you submitted, your credit, or anything about you, emailprivacy at recapped.fiwith the page and link in question. Removals are made from the live site promptly. The content repository is private; earlier versions remain in its history unless a full removal is requested, in which case the history is rewritten too.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, and complain to your data protection authority (in Finland, the Data Protection Ombudsman).
